Thatcher Ferry Bridge, now called "The Bridge of the Americas", is truly a beautiful bridge. By building this bridge, it became possible for people to cross over the canal waterway without having to depend on the Miraflores Swing Bridge. Many times, people would have to wait for a ship in transit through Miraflores Locks, before being able to cross over to the other side to go to work, school, etc. The Canal Zone College was located right next to the brige, and I had the opportunity to watch the bridge being built. Hmmm, maybe that's why I only got "average" grades.... I can remember as a young child, crossing across on the La Boca Ferry, before the bridge was built....nice memories.
